He is Risen

He is Risen

This is my favorite Easter proclamation and its traditional response of “He is risen, indeed!”

It reminds me that we truly are an “Easter People”. We live for the resurrection. We look forward to eternity. We face the dawn of each new day with great courage and hope.” We do not live in that grey twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.

Furthermore, every time we imitate Jesus Christ to our fellow man, in a small way we re-resurrect Him. He is resurrected and lives in us through our actions. Every time we comfort a person who is suffering. Every time we do an act of charity,
or cloth the naked, or feed the hungry, or remind someone to act virtuously.

Proclaiming that “He is Risen” is much more than an empty tradition. The words remind us of the joyous news we celebrate at Easter and every day, that Jesus’ death was not in vain, and that He has the power to overcome death.

Never have these words meant more to me than this year as I wait in joyful hope for a liver transplant through which Jesus will resurrect my health so that I might better serve Him.

The resurrection of Christ gives us all hope for salvation and for our own resurrection and eternal life.

He is Risen!
