Virtue of the Week: Thankfulness

ThankfulnessFriends,
Those of you who know me well understand completely when I say how close to my heart the following prayer is. I have been through some horrifying things in the last 2-5 years and this prayer means so much to me. I hope you find it meaningful as well.

I asked God for strength, that I might achieve. I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey.
I asked for health, that I might do great things. I was given infirmity, that I might do better things.
I asked for riches, that I might be happy. I was given poverty, that I might be wise.
I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men. I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God.
I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life. I got nothing I asked for—but everything I had hoped for.
Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers were answered.
I am, among men, most richly blessed.

Probably more than any other week of the year, I suggest taking the time this week to read the complete works that we have done on thankfulness. Take these things to heart, share them with family and friends, and your life will be enriched.
